________________________________________

Fair Trade artisans, producers and trading enterprises are facing one of the greatest disruptions in the history of the movement. We are calling for your support to co-fund an exciting series of events that will bring people together to grow the life-changing impact of Fair Trade.

To help us do this, Mitos Urgel is travelling from Chiang Mai to share inspiring stories of how WEAVE Fair Trade is responding to the humanitarian crisis on the Thai/ Myanmar border where thousands of displaced people from Myanmar have taken refuge. Mitos will be joined by a host of changemakers in Australia to talk about how socially and environmentally responsible enterprise has the power to create tangible change in some of the world’s most disadvantaged regions.

Please support us to make this exciting tour happen and on our mission to change trade - for good.

By clicking CONTRIBUTE to this campaign, you can:

  • Purchase tickets for amazing online and in-person events
  • Browse over 50 rewards donated by Fair Trade Association members
  • Become an official event sponsor, see options at the bottom of the rewards list.

Fair Trade Changemaker Tour

Fair Trade is all about the way we do business. Our mission is to alleviate poverty through trade.

Fair Trade provides access to market for disadvantaged producers - empowering them to build their own businesses and communities. Fair Trade works to support communities who are struggling with poverty in disadvantaged markets, by providing fair access to work, fair pay, and fair working conditions. Fair Trade also works with producers to ensure good environmental practices, including reducing carbon footprint and minimising plastic use.

Keynote Speaker: Mitos Urgel, President of WFTO Asia

Mitos Urgel

Mitos Urgel is the President of WFTO Asia, is an alliance of over 120 Guaranteed Fair Trade Enterprises in Asia promoting justice in International trade. She is also the President and CEO of WEAVE (Women' s Education for Advancement and Empowerment) a WFTO Guaranteed social enterprise.

For over 25 years, Mitos has worked to advance the rights, status and dignity of women including refugees and underprivileged indigenous women and their families in Thailand, Myanmar and other parts of Asia through livelihoods and education programs.

We need $6000 to make it happen

We have big dreams for this tour - but we can't make it happen without your help. To help us create an event that really raises the profile of Fair Trade and reaches as many people as possible we need your support.

  • $6,000 will mean we can that the Changemaker Tour can hold a flagship event in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne
  • We would love to hold satellite events and get out into the community - every $ over $6,000 helps us to do more of that!

Pre-order your ticket

You can pre-order your ticket for one of the flagship events in Perth, Melbourne or Sydney so you don't miss out. Your pre-ordered ticket includes becoming a Friend of Fair Trade - which means you join our community and get priority access to future events and meet-ups.

Find out more on the EVENTS tab and book your tickets by clicking CONTRIBUTE.

Support Us and Receive Fair Rewards

Get in quick with your pledge to secure one of our amazing Fair Rewards. We have a beautiful selection of fair trade products that we are offering as rewards for your donation. So not only are you helping the Changemaker Tour happen - you receive a beautiful fair trade artisan-made product as well!

These delightful and joyful earrings are handmade by artists from Samunnat Nepal. The designs are inspired by their own traditions (think bell-shaped jhumka earrings) but have a decidedly modern flavour! The women mix all their own colours and hand make each component using polymer clay. The findings are all sterling silver. Each par is a tiny statement of hope and courage!

To create an engaging campaign story, please answer the questions below. Don't worry about full sentences or grammar—the focus is on providing detailed information. The more details you give, the better the final story will be. Once you submit your answers, a draft story will be generated for you to review and edit as needed.

  1. What is the problem you want to solve?
Provide a description of the underlying problem or situation you want to improve with funding. Explain why this issue is important and what negative effects it currently has on people, the environment or your community.
  2. What is your solution?
Describe your plan to address the problem and highlight what makes your approach unique or effective.
  3. How will the funds be used?
Outline how the money will be allocated to specific programs, resources or services.
  4. How will contributions make a tangible difference?
Explain the benefits and positive changes resulting from your project being funded. If appropriate, also explain how the lives of beneficiaries will be impacted.
  5. How will you keep supporters involved in your campaign?
Detail how you will provide updates on progress, share stories on the impact of contributions and keep supporters connected to the project.
Please answer at least one question to generate a story.
