Problem: Barriers to employment for women with a criminal record

At Success Works, we believe in second chances. We see a woman’s potential—not just her past.

Women with a criminal record face overwhelming barriers to employment. Many have limited work experience, low confidence, and lack the foundational skills needed to succeed in the workplace. The stigma they face often leaves them feeling hopeless and unemployable.

But we’re changing that.

Our Solution: Test and Tag Social Enterprise

We’re launching Test and Tag, a social enterprise that offers paid transitional employment in a demand trade to women with a criminal record. This initiative helps them:

- Build confidence and discover their strengths

- Learn workplace skills in a supportive environment

- Take a vital step toward long-term employment

Participants will receive accredited training in electrical safety testing (Test and Tag), opening doors to long-term careers in trades and compliance services.

We have experience building social enterprises, and we are proud to have the support of Mirvac and the Salvation Army, who believe in our mission and back our work.

The Opportunities: What We Need

To get started, we need to purchase our first Test and Tag machine, which costs $5,000.

Each machine creates part-time work for four women, giving them the opportunity to earn, learn, and grow. 

Financial predictions show our model is self-sustaining and is likely to make a small profit by year two.

This will:

• Expands the capacity of Success Works to deliver services to more clients, increasing revenue and sustainability.
• Demonstrates a scalable model for social impact through enterprise.

This model will create long-term outcomes by:

• Creates a ripple effect: as women succeed, they inspire others and contribute to breaking cycles of disadvantage.
• Builds a replicable model that can be expanded to other regions or industries.
