Making a difference isn't exclusive to billionaires
Myth: Impact investing involves multi-billion-dollar projects like solar farms for the uber-rich only.

Fact: You don't need truckloads of cash which you must dish out over a long timeframe to make a positive difference in the world whilst growing your wealth.

There's a crucial segment of the global economy that more people can get behind with their investment dollars.

Say more I hear you say?...

The big addressable gap in the global economy 

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

No matter if they are in impoverished nations, emerging markets or Australia, they create the most jobs, contribute the largest share of economic output and are crucial to solving social and environmental challenges.

But there's a tiny, no huge, barrier that they face.
SMEs are considered the “missing middle” where they are too large for microfinance and concessional funding and too small for corporate banking. Traditional financial institutions frequently overlook these enterprises, leading to a significant funding gap that stifles their potential and impedes positive grassroots change.

And this gap is huge! The World Bank estimates that SMEs face a $5.2 trillion funding gap to realise their full potential.

Promoting purpose-driven investments

Wholesum exists to make purposeful investments accessible to more people through a fund that makes short-term invests into SMEs. We launched this Fund in January and have deployed over $1.4M with over 30 SMEs in Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle-East and Australia. 

But in a world where crypto, the stock market and the property market are driven by skyrocketing growth news in the media, most people have never heard about impact investing in far flung places, let alone invested in them.

Without robust evidence and detailed insights, it is challenging to attract additional investment capital. This lack of data hampers our ability to demonstrate the full potential of impact investing and to persuade more investors to join our mission.

We’d like to change that. We want to make impact investing into SMEs more real and relatable. For this, we want to travel deep into the Peruvian Amazon (see below) to see firsthand how investor funds are promoting economic empowerment of local communities while conserving the natural environment.

We have identified one of our investment partners, White Lion Foods, to support this. They are a pretty awesome investment partner. Through their Truly Nuts! brand, they donate 25% of their profits to preserve the Amazon jungle and other global projects, are committed to having at least 50% of their workforce as women and ensure their factory workers earn above market wages (check out their conservation activities below).

A professional documentary production and survey data of the impact of White Lion Foods investments will create greater understanding of impact investing and build conviction to back SME investments.
