Why is there a barrier to employment for women with a criminal record?

The biggest issue women with a record looking to for employment face is Ignorance.

• Employers don't know or understand the risks of employing someone with a record.
• They don't understand the value of this untapped talent pool to their business. 
• They are discriminating unconsciously through their recruitment processes and systems.

It seems too hard, so it's easier to just say No regardless of the relevance of the persons record to the role they need to fill.

What's the solution?

Understanding. This means educating businesses on the real risks, and the roles women with a record can do in your business, vs the record they have.

By demystifying and de-risking the process for employers, the doors of possibility are opened.

Success Works has created a series of information sessions and an online portal to capture information about employers who are willing to register as an Open Door Employer, to help Women with a record who want to work, find employers willing to give them a fair chance.

The Opportunities:

• Opening Doors to Employment will provide opportunities for women to work and support themselves and their families and move forward with their lives.
• It provides opportunities to Employers who need to fill roles with motivated and skilled employees, allowing them to grow their businesses and employ more people. Which is great for the local economy and the wider community.
• The Opening Doors to Employment program will also support both the employee and the employers as they navigate the recruitment process and post-Hire.

Help Us Open More Doors to Employment

Our goal is to educate and engage 100 employers in the Parramatta region, into our program, registering them as Open-Door Employers with Success Works.

Your contribution to us raising $15,000 to fund the program this year will enable us to recruit 100 employers, and open the door to employment for over 25 women by the end of project.
