Campaign Overview
Welcome to the Confit Gym crowdfunding campaign! We are on a mission to open a social enterprise gym in Parramatta called Confit Gym, where fitness meets social impact. Our goal is to create a space where any individual from society can break barriers, build strength, and train to be free, both physically and mentally. We are seeking your support to make this vision a reality and transform lives in our community.
About Confit Gym
Confit Gym, short for "Convict Fitness," was founded in 2019 with the aim of empowering formerly incarcerated individuals through fitness and building a platform to bridge the social gap where former inmates can help people from society to get fit and train to be free. Our slogan is "Train To Be Free" because as inmates even though our bodies were incarcerated, whenever we use to train our mind was free. Our unique approach involves hiring and training up formerly incarcerated individuals as fitness professionals, providing them with employment opportunities and a supportive community. To date we have been operating out of council parks, having to face all elements of the weather, running around in the dark, dogs urinating on our equipment and sprinklers going off while we are training. Finally we have found a place to call home on 12 Union St Parramatta, our first brick and mortar location. We believe in second chances and the power of physical and mental transformation.
How We Make an Impact
At Confit Gym, we don't just focus on transformations for our clients; we also strive to create a positive impact on the lives of young people in the justice system. Through our charity, Confit Pathways, our trainers work as lived-experience youth mentors, delivering fitness-based mentoring programs in youth justice centers across NSW. We provide pathways to employment, education, and community support, reducing recidivism rates and helping young people succeed in life through one rep at a time. Confit Gym is a social enterprise as the profits generated through selling memberships will be redirected into our social cause of reducing recidivism and providing mentoring programs in youth justice centres across NSW.
Why We Need Your Support
We are launching this crowdfunding campaign to raise $15,000, which will enable us to provide employment experience for our first young person transitioning back into the community from our program to work in the gym under our support and guidance. In NSW nearly 60% of young people will return to custody and it costs the community nearly $714,000 to house a single young person in custody each year. By preventing 20 young people from returning to custody, we can save the community over $14 million, which can be reinvested in other critical areas in society. Every dollar raised will make a significant difference in empowering disadvantaged youth and creating a brighter future for our community.

For just the price of two cups of coffee from your day we can collectively contribute to reach our goal of $15,000 and you can help a disadvantaged young person change the trajectory of their life. If we were to raise more than our target goal we would simply extend the length of the employment period or even open up a second role for another young person to join our team. Together, we can create a ripple effect of empowerment and transform lives.
